Sustainability at Lion People Communities Marketplace Environment Sponsorships & Donations

Our vision is for people working at Lion Nathan to be as healthy and safe as possible.

We aim to achieve our ultimate target of zero occupational incidents by engaging and involving our people, increasing our safety capabilities, maintaining shared responsibility and individual accountability, and providing systems that support individual as well as business objectives.

Work is continuing to introduce common H&S documentation in procedures and processes across the Lion Nathan Group.

We have now developed an audit tool which identified any gaps in our systems and also areas for improvement. Our approach to managing health and safety will be based on AS/NZS4801, an internationally recognised standard.

Across the group we have in place a number of programmes aimed at keeping our people safe at work. They include the Postural Education Programme where participants, in groups of two, are assessed by an exercise physiologist who determines how each person can improve their posture and improve core stability; the Warm Up for Work Programme which involves an exercise physiologist watching the work being done in the packaging, warehouse and utilities areas and designing a pre-work stretching programme; the Ergonomic Hazard Management Programme which aims to reduce the risk of injury within the brewhouse due to manual handling; pedestrian safety progammes which include the provision of high visibility clothing and designated safe pedestrian access zones around the site; and many, many more.

We look to engage our people in managing health and safety at their workplace, with safety committees or teams set up at all major operational sites.

We involve our people in the processes of hazard identification and risk assessment and run health and safety awareness seminars to heighten the level of understanding around such issues.
