FY08 saw the first full year of operation of our multi-functional Sustainability Leadership Group. The group has a mandate to assist in developing and achieving our sustainability objectives across the business.
In FY08 the group met regularly and delivered on its mandate by developing a sustainability strategy, delivering strategic advice to our Group Leadership Team, and recommending action plans on sustainability across the business.
We have appointed a dedicated Sustainability Leader to co-ordinate the Sustainability Leadership Group and drive the strategy across the business.
This provides day-to-day management focus on our sustainability priorities and acts as a source of advice on key initiatives. Our Sustainability Leader is also leading our team of volunteer Sustainability Ambassadors who are helping to identify opportunities and action change across our various sites. Our Board also oversees sustainability issues through its Audit, Finance and Risk Board Committee. Environmental, people and social issues have previously been captured by our Risk Assurance assessments and processes. In FY08, sustainability as a specific issue area was formally incorporated into the Lion Risk Assurance process and a Sustainability Risk Champion has been appointed. This will enable a greater profile for sustainability issues in our Risk Champion processes.
Lion Risk Assurance, our internal risk management experts, have overseen the development of this Report and audited a cross-section of disclosures prior to publication.
