Culture and Change Leader for Sales, Lion Nathan New Zealand

Hi there! I joined Lion Nathan in 1986 as a Branch Chemist based at Canterbury Brewery.

At the time of my appointment I was thrilled to have been accepted into an iconic company that had great brands, offered career succession and was renowned to be a fun place to work. Interestingly, Lion Nathan’s external value proposition hasn't changed a lot over the years.

Since joining I have had amazing opportunities to significantly diversify my skill base; from roles that specialised in operational technical expertise to now specialising in employment law, culture and coaching our people.

Initially I was particularly interested in being an Operations Director. From Branch Chemist I held a number of operational roles, however as part of the succession planning journey, the role in Human Resources was too alluring for me to move from. Now referred to as the People and Culture team, it is in this function that I have progressed and which I have made my career and passion.

What I love about Lion Nathan is the continuous challenge to change for the better, the freedom it allows people to be personally responsible for their own destiny, and the work hard but have a fun time doing it ethic.

My personal learnings have been huge. The key learning is the reinforcement of the phrase, if you think you can you will and if you think you can't you won’t so take the personal responsibility to make the positive difference you seek.

Working for a company that has global brands, stretch goals to keep you challenged and a fantastic internal culture is tremendously fulfilling.
